We lack the scale to understand our insignificance. Our place in the universe, our place in time, our place in life, and even our place in the human adventure are less than the specs of dust we just fail to see in the beam of morning light. Yet, to us, that iota of existence, no matter how small and brief in its totality, there is great importance, for that is our universe.
My other tumblr is a twitter.
Your love was like regret
You filled me with it.
Correlations - interesting things...pointless things....
Standing here in a field of starlight
I gaze through the optics into night
Looking back through time
I see the birth of distant planets
Those worlds looking back at us
See the early shapes of our genesis
Perhaps in time we shall meet
Those that saw our evolution
And share the knowledge of our beginnings.
Standing at the bar of time
In this middle age of earth
Halfway toward our solar burn
Halfway from our planetary birth
We are awakened to our ultimate destruction
Squabbling over the momentary concerns
We ignore the rolling thunder of inevitability
Before the clock begins to slow
Before the stars begin to blink
Before time turns back its arrow
We must take this time to think
The evolutionary imperative to survive
Calls for a caucus of common purpose
To spark defiantly the lightning of persistence
A choice of shuffling off this mortal coil
Or escaping these earthly bonds in space
Taking our first steps on Martian soil
To leap onward for the human race
Wringing hands in a crucible of thought
Twisted wrists keep pace with concept
A foundation vanishes beneath a house of glass
Shattered concepts crash in cascades of clarity
The stained glass no longer tinting the sky
True light shines on my cathedral of deception
The unseen, the unknown, now no more
I am this moment, I only have this time
No longer a second chance or a god to blame
No longer a god to credit or a prize to wait
Only now to live and this life to change
No more wasted breaths
No more wasted acts
No more prayers to stone
No more chains to faith
The veil is torn and the trumpets silent
This shout only heard by the ears of man
I am human I am man. I am alive.
I am all that I am and all that I am is now.
Eternity belongs to the mindless
But the now belongs to us.
